Sample Photographs of weddings I have been hired to shoot

How do you like to photograph a wedding?
I like to document things as they unfolds, capturing authentic moments instead of "grip and grin" posed shots which, lets face it, the average iphone can take. I believe the best wedding photos are un-posed, it's all about capturing real emotions. Don't get me wrong, traditional formal posed photos have their place, and I do capture those, but for a large portion of the day I let my couples do their own thing!
Rather than taking you away from your guests for long, I'll work quickly and stealthily to get shots of you and your guests interacting throughout the day. I will try to blend in and use minimal photo kit to avoid being too distracting. The result (I hope) is a collection of photos that will look like snapshots but with an artistic quality. I want you to be able to relive the emotions you felt on your wedding day, and not recall waiting around for hours doing posed shots.

How do you go about the posed shots?
When it comes to portrait sessions I like to keep things casual and relaxed. That said, I will give some direction, I don't want you to feel uncomfortable or alone in-front of the camera. I feel like the best photos come from candid, natural interactions, so I'll usually prompt you in ways that let you express yourselves in a way that is comfortable for you. I'll never ask you to do anything that you don't want to do.

I try to capture a mix of wides, mid length and closeup shots, depending on the scene. I think variety is important, and since we all shoot digital these days you can always crop in or simply delete shots you don't like! that's why I usually try to give a few more images than I initially promise.
What happens after you've photographed our wedding?
I head home, put the kettle on, and start backing up the digital negatives so they're safe and sound. I tend to not start editing until a day or two after the event, I feel it helps having fresh eyes and I've heard other wedding photographers say the same. How long does it take? Usually between 2-3 weeks.
