Wedding Photography in Powys & Throughout Wales
Investment
Weddings can be expensive, they involve a lot of moving parts. Flowers fade, cakes disappear, and the day itself can feel like it flies by. But photographs are one of the few things that remain, giving you something real to return to and share long after the celebration ends.
Before reading on, if you’ve been recommended here by a friend, please let me know who! as you may be entitled to a small discount (I am still honouring a old referral discount system). If this is your first time seeing my work, please check out my portfolio and about me page as it’ll give you some insight on how I work.
Hi, I’m Joe, a documentary wedding photographer based in Newtown, Wales. I specialise in capturing authentic, unscripted moments as they naturally happen throughout your celebration. While I primarily work across Powys and the Welsh counties, I’m available for weddings anywhere in the UK. I offer full-day and half-day wedding photography coverage, as well as photography for elopements and micro weddings.
Why Work With Me?
I stay for the whole story
Unlike photographers who offer 4, 6, or 8-hour packages, I believe your wedding deserves undivided attention from beginning to end. Thus I offer competitive pricing on my full-day coverage package. I’ll be there from bridal preparations right through to the dancing and celebration – even if things run late (which they often do!) – because what’s the point of telling a story if you’re only capturing half of it?
Full-time dedication
Photography isn’t a side job for me. As a full-time professional with over 5 years experience and over 100 weddings photographed, I give complete care and attention to your day – before, during, and after. This means faster turnaround times and meticulous editing that part-timers simply can’t match.
Craftsmanship
Every photograph is personally hand-edited by me and delivered in both colour and black & white. You’ll receive high-resolution images that are yours to keep, print, and share freely with an unlimited personal-use license.

Weddings can be expensive, I don’t believe in charging more than I need to
- Full Coverage Packages – £1,050
Bridal preparations through to evening festivities. This has become the most popular choice for couples who want their entire day documented. Typically 8-9 hours coverage, I usually end up leaving around 9pm shortly after the first dance.
- Half Day Coverage – £600
Typically 3 hours covering the ceremony and couple portraits, with options to extend coverage as needed. If you need extra hours, I charge £100/hr on top of the above-listed packages.
Optional Additions
Second Photographer (£350)
One of my hand-picked associates who matches my documentary style. Perfect for capturing both morning preparations simultaneously or providing multiple perspectives throughout the day – especially valuable for larger weddings. For transparency, I pay the photographer £250 and the rest goes towards the extra hours I spend editing their images (ensuring the style remains consistent).Priority Turnaround (£150)
Need your images urgently? Jump to the front of the editing queue and receive your complete gallery within days rather than weeks (subject to diary availability). Typical delivery time is 2 weeks.Engagement Session (£150)
Get comfortable in front of the camera before your big day with a relaxed pre-wedding shoot. Plus, you’ll have beautiful images to use for save-the-dates or display at your reception. (Additional travel costs apply for locations beyond 1 hour from Newtown)Luxury Albums (£300-£600)
Handcrafted, leather-bound albums that are elegant and timeless. Prices vary by size – these are heirloom-quality books you’ll treasure for generations. There’s nothing stopping you from printing your own books, your images come with print-rights included.Custom USB Boxes (£35)
Extra USB and presentation boxes for parents or other family members.
My Documentary Style
I’m a documentary photographer at heart, which means I focus on capturing genuine moments and emotions as they happen naturally. However, I understand that family group photographs are important traditions for many weddings.
I’ll organise formal shots efficiently and professionally – keeping things moving so your guests aren’t standing around – then get back to the storytelling moments you see throughout my portfolio. For weddings requiring extensive formal photography, I can bring a second shooter specifically to handle those while I continue capturing the candid narrative of your day.
Your Experience
“From day one of talking to Joe, he went out of his way to make us as comfortable as possible and understand what we wanted from the day. He immediately put us at ease. The photos are incredible and we could not stop smiling as we looked through them.”

Common Questions
How many images will we get?
This depends on coverage length, season, weather, and guest count. Full-day coverage typically yields 300-600+ images. Are the images really ours?
Yes, completely. You’ll receive full-size, non-watermarked digital files with unlimited personal-use rights. Print them yourself, share them freely, order through my professional print store, or use any print service you prefer. Will there be awkward posing?
My documentary approach means most of your gallery will be natural, unposed moments. I’ll provide gentle guidance for couple portraits and organise family groups efficiently, but the majority of your day unfolds authentically while I capture it.What if our wedding is outside Powys?
I regularly photograph weddings throughout Wales and the rest of the UK. All travel and expenses are included in your package, so location is never a concern.
