Welcome to Joe Topping Photography. I’m a relaxed wedding photographer based in Newtown, Powys, Wales. I specialise in capturing raw, natural, unscripted moments for couples who want wedding photography with minimal posing or staged shots. I capture what happens naturally, photojournalistically, from the perspective of a wedding guest.

  • Total Freedom: No watermarks, no restrictive licenses. You have complete freedom to print, share, and enjoy your photos. I don’t charge extra after the wedding, the images are all yours. I’ll even keep a backup for you for 2 years.

  • Pre-Wedding Shoot: We can get to know each other behind the lens before the big day, so you feel 100% relaxed. This pre-shoot comes included in my full-day wedding photography package. 

  • Expert Guidance: I offer obligation-free consultations. Whether you book me or not, I’m always happy to help.

Relaxed, Natural & Unobtrusive Wedding Photography

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Powys who won’t boss you around or turn your wedding into a film set, I’m your guy. My style is 80% reportage, 20% fine-art portraits – I capture organic moments and genuine emotions as they happen, rather than manufacturing them.

When it comes to the posed shots, nobody’s standing around waiting to be called up. I move through group photos and individual portraits quickly and efficiently, so any time saved goes straight back to you — more time with your guests, more time enjoying your day.

Ultimately, I want you to feel comfortable and forget I’m even there. Your wedding day shouldn’t revolve around the photographer. If that sounds like the kind of experience you’re after, I’d love to hear about your plans.

How much does wedding photography cost? I keep my pricing transparent and upfront — no “enquire for pricing” games. Head to my pricing page to see exactly what you get and whether I’m the right fit for your budget. My half day wedding coverage starts at £500 and my full day coverage starts at £1100.

How long until we get our photos? Your full edited gallery is delivered within 14 days of your wedding. No waiting six months to relive your day.

Do we own our photos? Completely. No watermarks, no restrictive licenses, no extra charges after the wedding. They’re yours to print, share, and keep — and I’ll hold a backup for two years just in case.

How much posing is involved? Very little. My style is 80% reportage, 20% portraits. The group shots and individual portraits are done quickly so you can get back to enjoying your day. Nobody’s being lined up for an hour.

Do you travel outside of Powys? Yes — I regularly photograph weddings across Powys, Shropshire, Herefordshire, and the Cotswolds. Further afield is possible too; a small travel or accommodation charge may apply depending on location.

What’s a pre-wedding shoot? It’s a relaxed session before the big day so you get comfortable in front of my camera. It comes included with my full-day package — no extra cost.
